Opportunities Abound for Outreach

LOCAL

Wayland Area Christian Neighbors Food Pantry & Joyful Noise Offering

We provide volunteers to work at the pantry as well as collect non-perishable food items for their distribution.  We celebrate the collecting of food item on the first Sunday of each month.  We also participate in the annual Crop Walk which also benefits the pantry as well as international needs.

The first Sunday of each month is also a time when all loose change in the offeing is designated for local needs such as assistance with prescriptions, utilities, gas to get to work, etc.

Sylvia's Place

We collect personal care products for use at this Allegan County Women's Shelter.

Project Baby Dry

We collect disposable diapers for use by anyone who is in need of them.  Young mothers stop by often when they have no other way of keeping their babies dry.

Wings of Hope Hopice

We provide meeting space for a grief support group.  We also provide something for their yearly benefit auction that is held each May.

NATIONAL

We regularly participate in missions trips across the United States.  We sent a group to New York Ciity within a month of 9/11.  We have folks who have served in the Katrina Gulf Coast area.  We regularly participate with Re-Member on the Pine Ridge Reservation providing beds for any who ask and learn more about our Native American brothers and sisters who have been oppressed by our system.  Our youth have been in mission with elderly and low-income folks in Tenessee, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, and Minnesota.

Fast Food Toys for Mission

We collect toys that come with those fast food meals and send them on to places where the children might not have any other toys available.  They have been greatly appreciated.

INTERNATIONAL

Equal Exchange Coffee is used at our church and offered for sale in an attempt to grant a living wage to coffee growers.  Tea and Hot Chocolate are also available almost every Sunday.

One Great Hour of Sharing/Week of Compassion

This offering is taken on Palm Sunday each year and is designated for Chruch World Service to meet disaster needs around the world.  Some of it also goes for development needs.
