Relfections On Ministry at Pine Ridge from some who made the Journey

Enchiwendemyan ibe nshya. I was honored to go there.  Meeting and visiting with the Lakota people was a pleasure.  It reminds me that through all of our past differences we have grown to become more similar.  Our Languages may not be the same, but our hearts are alike.  It is only through recognition of this that we will be able to preserve this land and our world to pass on to our children and their children and their children.

I think the trip was great!  I found God on this trip. Well, God never left me, but once again I love God.  It took alot for me to forgive , but it wasn't actually God's fault.  (Which I learned) Pine Ridge taught me a whole new outlook on life.  Everything I have besides my family, I don't need.  It's going to help me appreciate everything that everyone has done and will do for me.  I am glad I came.  Very Glad!!!

This trip was so amazing I have no words.  Everything that happened was positive and meaningful.  The wisdom I learned from the people and their culture is so simple yet complex because we (our culture) never thought of it.  We make everything so hard when it really doesn't have to be. They showed me how beautiful even the simplest things that we take for granted are.  I am so happy I came and kept an open mind to new ideas. It has made such an impact on my life.

It takes all parts to make a whole and without the Lakota people, Mother earth would not be complete.  Therefore, we need to do all we possibly can to heal the wound between the white man and Lakota.  That means scrubbing out the wound (physical work), putting on cream to keep infection out (communication), and applying the band-aid (hope for the future - political justice).  It will take hard work and whole-hearted dedication to heal this wound.  This week has been our honest effort to Re-Member the Lakota people and culture through working, learning, and being open to change.  There will be more efforts from each and every one of us in the future.  We have been changed.
